$4 NL HE 6-max: all in on turn - right move?

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 91/36/2

Hi, first post of hand history so not sure if it'll look right...

Foe was in almost every pot and raising a lot of junk seemingly to get people to fold preflop. his stats were 91/36 over 72 hands.

No-Limit Hold'em, $0.04 BB (6 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Hero (Button) ($4.85)
SB ($4.96)
BB ($5.40)
UTG ($5.30)
MP ($8.38)
CO ($6.24)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q

, J

1 fold, MP bets $0.16, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.16, 1 fold, BB calls $0.12

Flop: ($0.50) 10

, 7

, Q

(3 players)
BB checks, MP bets $0.50, Hero calls $0.50, 1 fold

Turn: ($1.50) J

(2 players)
MP bets $1.50, Hero raises $4.19 (All-In), MP calls $2.69

River: ($9.88) A

(2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: $9.88

i flatted the flop bet as i thought i would be in front and also he cbet 100% every flop and 100% every turn, so i thought flatting the flop would induce a further bet on the turn which i could raise. when the turn is a J, he bets as I thought and so i shove.

What do you think of this play? I could not put him on a range - he was playing everything, and calling everything.

was my play ok, and what about his, would he have any odds to call the turn bet?

thanks in advance,

Truffle:)

I can put money on in your hand was beaten. The hand was played fine. You'll win more times there then you'll lose. You lost but just say nh and reload. You played it right and will be rewarded in the long run

It seems like hes betting full pot to try to push you off of a hand. If he had a really good hand he would have slowplayed it a little more I would think. You may have gotten beaten here with his Kx, but you had a pretty decent hand before the A hit.

I would have played this hand the same way.

I would have done the same. Top two vs this guy is the nuts against a player like him. Definitely putting all the money in on the turn for value and to protect as the board is very draw heavy.

Seems well played, why not re-raise villian pre-flop though? If you know he is weak, it's folded around to you on the button with a marginal hand, why not attack him with position? Otherwise, well played, I may have made the same call pre-flop too, just seems like that might be a smarter choice because maybe that Q wouldn't of hit.

yeah i didnt re-raise PF because he was calling everything anyway so i flatted in the hope of hitting the flop and letting him bet into me.

i have since looked back at this hand and although i think i played it right by shoving the turn, i can also understand the reason for his call.

He showed QK and landed a straight when the Ace hit the river. So he had TP/GK and open ended straight draw, as well as the outs with the K for a higher 2 pair. i do think i was a bit unlucky tho LOL.

Shown here, you were a 75/25 favorite to win over his actual hand after the turn.
I have also put you up against a range of 30% which I think could be what he is raising with from an early position (if he has any sense of position at all) just to show you how your equity would change with each card that came out. As you can see, all that you are really worried about are the Kings or Aces. This would really be useful to know if you were still betting against him on the river.

Thanks Stubz, thats useful info.

I thought i was massively in front of his range, especialy when i hit 2 pair. i think the shove was correct just unlucky.

i'm gonna post another HH from last nite in a minute - a tourney where i came just outside the money - i don't think i'm aggressive enough in tourneys as i get blinded out often. the last 2 i was in i missed cashing by about 6 places. this was maybe the case - have a look and see what you think??

i'll title it - 88 in tourney - not aggressive enough?

cheers,

T.
