Villain is 18/10 over 351 hands; 73% cbet on flop stat

I'd like feedback on how I played each street, primarily the turn and river.

Thanks!

Pre-flop horrible. Raise if you like money or fold if you're a nit. I'd make it $0.14-$0.16, fold to 3-bet. Never open-limp, it's just pointless.

Flop - Fine.

Turn - bet out on turn. What was your plan if a blank came on river?

River - Fine.

Don't open limp pre. AJ is a good hand, why didn't you raise?

Not saying you're wrong but:

Why did you check turn?
Why did you donk bet the river?

Donk the turn, or at least check/fold or check/raise. Check/calling is the worst line possible here. Your draw sucks, and villain is unlikely to take this line as a bluff. I prolly just fold.

Bet/call the river, as played. Villain pretty much always has KJ.

Be gentle as I admit to how much I need to learn!

This HH shows my inconsistent play and refusing to believe I'm beat/ convincing myself that the other player must be bluffing.

PF: I'm not sure why I open-limped AJ. I've had AJ 161 times over the 14K hands I've played recently. 7 of those times I've been UTG and have raised 4/7 times. I have to think about this some more.

Turn: I know I need improvement because I don't often have plans for future streets and am just thinking "what do I do now?" I think I'm looking at AJ like set-mining. I didn't hit so I don't want to make the pot too big.

River: Again, not so good at being a thinking player (during the game; in retrospect I do much better ). I guess I donked to see where I stood and to get value from my straight. In which case, I think now that folding to such a large reraise is what I should have done. I guess what I was thinking at the time was: "He's making this huge bet to put me off my hand. I won't let him."

Don't think about it, just do it. If you're first in with AJ, it's pretty much ALWAYS a raise.
Turn: I know I need improvement because I don't often have plans for future streets and am just thinking "what do I do now?" I think I'm looking at AJ like set-mining. I didn't hit so I don't want to make the pot too big.
Let's think about this, you checked the turn, he checked the turn. What could that possibly mean? It means it's possible that he doesn't have anything or is looking for a free draw.

How does that affect us and our decision? Well we could semi-bluff the turn with just our straight draw and A-high hand since we have equity. He can call us with worse hands too like FDs and shit
River: Again, not so good at being a thinking player (during the game; in retrospect I do much better ). I guess I donked to see where I stood and to get value from my straight. what makes you think he wouldn't have bet the river if you had checked?

Anyway, river is a bet/call

I would raise preflop. There aren't too many absolutes in poker but here is one of them in my opinion: Do not ever open limp. The hand would have played out completely differently so it is difficult to address. I am guessing that this hand was a cooler and your opponent had KJ. These spots happen both for and against. It's not worth worrying too much about it.
