I was at a card room today and had to make what I thought was a big decision. This was a full 1/2 ring game. I had been playing for about 5.5 hours and had about 500 in front of me. I was delt AK of spades in the cut off. There were two limpers in front of me and I raise to 10 dollars. The button with 300 in front of him calls and everyone else folds. The button player had been at the table the whole time as me and he was all over the place with calling hands. ( I didn't like the call from him) The flop comes AcKcJh. I bet 20 dollars and he instantly goes all in. I go into the think tank for about 2 minutes and someone calls a clock on me. The dealer calls over the floor man and starts a clock. he counts down the 60 seconds and my hand is called dead. I wanted to call so badly but I just couldn't justify calling 300 bucks on such a marginal situation. I just thought I could get my money in, in a better spot. I ended up making the right play because he flashed JJ, but reguarless of the results. If you can't put a read on a player one way or another is it the right thing to just fold? I would love to hear from cash game players

Are you asking if it's correct to fold to a bet of about $280 more when the pot was $43 if you don't have a good read?

Answer: Yes.

Wow nice fold IDK if I could have done it. All that beats you is JJ or Q10. KK or AA are extremely unlikely. Against every other hand you're ahead.

But unless your opponent is a reverse MENSA candidate, what hands is he shoving like that with? Basically JJ and Q-10. Possible some type of combo draw like JcQc, too ...
