3/6 NL HU. $1,200 stacks. I decided to make a standard raise to $18 and the BB re raises to $54. We both are consistently making continuation bets after raising/re-raising. I called with: JsJh

BB makes a continuation bet of $75 on a flop of: JcQd7s

I raise to $200 and he flat calls. The bb checks a turn of: 7d

I bet $200 on the turn and he flat calls. The river is: 5h

He checks the river and I bet $300 and he insta shoved.

Any comments on how I played the hand and how you wouldve played the hand

Once you see the J on the flop it doesn't even matter what his hand is. It just becomes how to get the money in by the end. But for kicks I picked the most likely hand. It's in fact THE most likely hand, since there are 6 ways for him to have KK, only 3 ways to have QQ or 55, and only 1 way to have 77.

Why not AA?

HU as in there's just two of you at the table?

Snapcall/fistpump on the river if that's the case, this could be all sorts of things - AQ, A7, some other seven, underboats, AA, KK... the only two hands you're worried about are QQ and 77, and his range has gotta be a lot wider than that.

As for how I would've played it, heads up is all about reads. Without them it's pretty much impossible to comment. Against a lot of players I'd be four-betting preflop and I'd probably bet more like $400 against just about everyone on the turn.

Yeah, if this is a heads up cash game, then there's going to be a wide range of hands he can have. He can have AA, KK, QQ, 77, naturally. He can also have AQ, KQ, or QJ. It's not even unthinkable that he got frisky preflop with Q7 or J7. Even at a full table, where his range is more like AA, KK, QQ, it's a must-call at the end. The odds are pretty big on the river.

I would play the hand in the same way, and I would call the shove with the third best hand over that board.

I picked KK since it's statistically the most likely, but since I have a feeling this is here because you lost the hand.. I'm gonna guess QQ.
