Hero ??

I realize the flop bet was low, I wanted to lead anyone with KQ out and tempt them to reraise me. If I didn't get any takers, I was planning on raising big every street after. When the all-in came, I'm thinking the guy has top pair with a flush draw? Should I call?

INSTACALL!!!!

Bet $0.40 on the flop, try to get all in on the turn. Your afraid of 2 hands, TT & KQ. Serious monsters under the bed syndrome, especially at 2$ NL. Obviously, sometimes players will have those hands, but more often they won't. If you're not bleeding chips at these limits to someone who has KQ, you're playing wrong.

I read the guy for 2 pair, and he is trying to freeze you out of calling with AK or AQ which he would suspect you have, giving you top pair and a backdoor straight draw.

If he had KQ, he would almost certainly bet less to induce a call. It could be a set, but at micro limit, I'm not giving him that much credit, since I'm sure he would still be trying to milk you a little.

Insta-call.
I doubt he has pocket fours for the set, and you're only really afraid of K/Q at this point.
I'd expect to see A/Qh or maybe A/T.

I guess a set of Tens is a possibility.

Still, insta-call.

C9,

What did you mean by:

If you're not bleeding chips at these limits to someone who has KQ, you're playing wrong.

Anyway, I did call and villain showed KQ. In my mind I thought it was a bad call before I even made it, but maybe I shouldn't beat myself up over it?

C9,

What did you mean by:
Players will call you with many worse hands at these limits. AT, JT, AK, ect. Lets assume our opponent has a range of AJ, AT, JT, AK, AQ, KQ, and TT (which is SO VERY TIGHT for 2$ No Limit).

Hand 0: 50.238% { AcJd }
Hand 1: 49.762% { TT, ATs+, KQs, JTs, ATo+, KQo, JTo }

Notice, that even against what is probably the tightest player at 2$ NL, you are still ahead of their range. Most players at 2$ NL are much worse, playing all sorts of garbage & taking it too far. By holding back because you are afraid of KQ, you are losing value against all the hands you beat.

Thus, if your opponent has KQ, or TT, you just lose your stack to them. They're at the top of their range. It sucks, but its a necessary part of the game. Remember, your opponent does not have 1 hand. He has a range of hands. And you must take action that gets the most value from his entire range. At 2$NL, that range is very wide, and going all in with AJ will be profitable in the long run.

The way you played this hand, you did not bet enough on each street to get all in by the river. Thus, you would have lost value against a lot of hands that you beat.
