so after 150 hands or so the guy had never limp called so i figure i can take it down pre-flop because the BB was re-ridiculously tight running like 6/6 or something

if i bet at it and he raises do i call since hes a shortstack?

but my main question is since he's shortstacked should i even bother with this play in the first place?

lol i don't think i would have got involved with this in the first place, but seeing as you flopped gold ofc you aren't folding this. ur 50:50 vs AA lol why on earth would you ever consider folding this to a short stack?

So yea, fold preflop or just complete your sb, but postflop you are getting this in every single time.

Yep, fold preflop like always, stack postflop always.

Well then he's got a range of mostly small pocket pairs and we now have room to be able to fold those out preflop with an isolation raise or on the flop if he calls. Stack sizes change things drastically.

thats what i was hoping to get at

i mean obv i have to call even if i know SS has a set in this case (i think)

but i was more interested in the thought of if his stack was bigger if this play in general not

just this exact hand but when a villian as weak as that pf and a tightwad left to act behind me.

thanks for the input guys

Well in general if you know a villain is going to play fit or fold on the flop then it is a very profitable play to isolate that villain and take it down alot on the flop or be able to double barrell scare cards on the turn if you have a good read on villain's range. Lots of loose passive fish will limp call with almost anything, but then they have no clue how to play post flop unimproved. It's also a good idea to make a really big raise preflop since villain is often going to call no matter what, and this way you can get alot more of villain's money into the pot (and seeing as they are still going to c/f the flop often this is more profitable than a small raise).
