Swamping you guys tonight :)

Little to no info on villain, and he has little to none on me.

pokerstars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (8 handed)

UTG+1 ($15)
MP1 ($4.65)
MP2 ($14.15)
CO ($17.15)
Button ($11.65)
Hero ($39.40)
BB ($38.55)
UTG ($32.30)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J

. UTG+1 posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG raises to $1.25, UTG+1 (poster) calls $1, 4 folds, Hero raises to $3.6, 1 fold, UTG calls $2.35, UTG+1 raises to $15.25, Hero ...

How often is this a med pair? Slowplayed monster? Weird bluff? Do we call?

don't call, shove. UTG rarely can call. and from eyeballing it, you're getting about the right odds against a range of QQ+ and AK. given the weird line he took, his shortness, and the fact that its 25NL, he can easily have some weaker pairs

Giving him a range of 88+, AJs+, AQo+, KQs we are getting around 53% equity and I think this some weird squeeze bull some of the time so our equity might be better. Since he is a shortstack, I think it's time to gamboool. And yes, shove to get this HU plz.

fwiw utg is pretty fishy at this point at ~30/15/2. He's made several big raises with position on limpers then autofolded to a 3-bet, but hasn't made any open raises yet.

I didn't really think too in-depth about an isolation shove. I actually like it since we're giving utg nearly 3:1 if we just call and obviously don't want to see AQ tag along. Basically in the hand I just didn't want to run into a big hand from utg but I really don't think that's very likely here given his line.

Yep siree bob. The amount of times I see this play (although more commonly in tourneys perhaps(?)) with 88 that villain has called ep raise with playing for set value and then when facing a reraise thinks "Oh what the hell - look at my pretty cards *shove*", which I guess I can kinda see the logic behind as they are no longer get odds on set mining. I shove here expecting to see a fold from UTG and 77-TT from UTG+1
