This river really screwed with me. Villain's AF is 4, so I was calling him in order to elicit another bet on the river, rather than likely having him fold if I re-raise the turn. However when the river came, I feel like it filled in a lot of his range. Is it even worth calling here?

Bets on flop and turn are a little small.

it's likely you're beat on river, yes, but you only need to be good 25% of the time to make a call profitable. i'd call, i think, but i wouldn't be happy about it.

villains stats?

a minraise preflop usually means a donk. So bet pot on flop, get it in on the turn.

as played i think im laying this down on the river i dont see him showing up with much worse here.

Actually, a lot of good players make smallish bets when they raise from BTN or SB, so that they get a better price on their steals.

doesnt that make it more profitable to play back at them or open up your calling range? esp in blind battles?

Yes, but few people adapt correctly.

and against a BTN who does that, it's really hard to adapt, tbh.
