$25 NL HE Full Ring: Stuck between an unknown and a maniac

I did not enough hands to provide stats on I AM KING RED.

ADLER12 behind me had me covered. He was seeing 87% of flops and raising 29% preflop.

I did not want to get stuck in a position where I called the $11 total, missed with no draws, and then have ADLER12 pushing me off the pot with junk. I figured I either had to go all-in and get 5 cards or fold, so I folded.

Would you push $25 into an unknown with $11 and a donkey that had you covered with AK suited?

I think I would have shoved here, but then again it's not my bankroll. I would feel comfortable getting it in here against an unknown, as people don't often make those kind of raises with aces. They like to play them tricky, sometimes just flat calling or re-raising lightly for value. What's more probable is a coin toss against a lower pocket pair and in this case it makes sense for you to call. If he had aces or kings, I'm thinking he wouldn't want you to fold. You might see AK or AQ too.

As for the maniac, you're way ahead of his range. Put it in and don't mind a call from him, assuming you're not playing on too tight a bankroll that you'd like to avoid these situations.

It honestly seems like he doesn't want you to call with that bet.

Umm the shover has less than half a stack - you stack off with AK for less than half a stack against an unknown at $25NL every single time. Without actually bothering to do the math I'm certain that he only needs to have AQ in his range for calling to be profitable, and a halfstacking donk at $25NL definitely has that in his shoving range (and probably more hands we dominate).

As for being worried about calling and then being pushed off a hand by the horrible guy, that's why you shove preflop. An 83% VPIP guy is bad enough that there's value to be had from him by shoving too.
