Once you 4bet preflop, you can't fold an overpair on any flop.

Don't post results.

Yep, i think the 4bet pre is likely a mistake, playing oop sucks but 4betting QQ here just looks to me like you're gonna get in some ugly spots, and you can't fold if anyone 5bet jams and you're probably in pretty ugly shape against them ranges, and we arent 4bet bluffing with QQ if we decide to 4bet it. But yeah, a 20/12 3betting an UTG open is probably pretty strong unless you had reads that he 3bets a lot or that UTG was an huge fish (in which case you should just flat the 3bet to keep him in)

edit: suppose UTG+1 being a shorty is likely just a fish so we should probably just flat as we can easily get his stack postflop

Ye i was kind of stuck whether to 4 bet or not, felt kind of bad at the time but i thought that my 4 bet looked super strong and would end the end there and then which is what i wanted really.

While your 4bet is very strong, the villain has also shown strength. 20/12 indicates that he's moderately tight and quite passive; i.e. that his 3bet range is quite narrow.

In terms of taking down the pot right away, what did you think his 3bet range was, and how much of that range did you think he'd fold?

I'd seen him 3 bet pretty light in a few spots, and with hands like AQs, he had done it with J's, T's and 9's previously, i figured he was folding basically everything bar Aces and Kings, and maybe Jacks which he had stacked off with previously, and AK.

chnages according to the position of the original opener in those spots though.

if you've seen him 3bet UTG raises with those hands then its fine..

if those hands were CO vs BTN then its slightly different.

The only thing you should have done differently was not 4 bet pre even though instinctively it's going to feel like the right play, it's just going to leave you in lots of tough spots when you do get called, but even if you smooth call it seems like if he has AA, KK, AK(with one or 2 spades), JJ, whether or not he has the spade with his aces or kings, best case scenario is your flipping, but even after saying all that it seems like you have to get the money in at that point. The action would just go a little differently since in this case he would have been the aggressor.

Ye i realise now 4 betting was a bad play, at the time, I thought it was at the time and kind of knew it was when posting this HH, but as you say instinctively it felt like a 4 bet, and im still getting used to cash, and making adjustments having played a lot of tourney poker before grinding the Micro's so still getting rid of a few of those tourney habits when at the cash tables.

ps. Love the quote at the bottom

As for pre my decision is whether to fold or call. UTG+1s stats and the COs 3bet% would help me decide this.
In general I'm folding here but UTG+1s short stack makes it less likely I will as it widens CO's range somewhat.

Once you 4bet preflop, you can't fold an overpair on any flop.

Ditto (for 100bbs)
