This is $30 NLHE
Villains in UTG+1 and MP1 are both unknown and the villain on the CO is a fish.
Basically I think I played this hand bad due to a bad preflop play. Here it is:
UTG ($30)
UTG+1 ($29.62)
MP1 ($31.85)
MP2 ($30)
MP3 ($30)
CO ($36.57)
BTN - hero ($33.94)
SB ($30)
BB ($30)
Hero is dealt As,Jh
Preflop ($0.45)
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.90, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, Hero raises to $4.50, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, CO calls
Flop ($17.53) is Ah,Kh,9c
UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, CO checks, Hero bets $9.60, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 1 fold
Turn ($35.77) is 9s
MP1 checks, Hero checks
River ($35.77) is 4s
MP1 bets $11.10, Hero calls.
Ok so I think I screwed this hand up preflop by making a squeeze play that I shouldn't have made. Here were my thoughts after the hand on why I shouldn't have done it:
a) the original raise is in EP so will have a very strong hand often and not fold to the 3bet
b) 2 of the villains are unknown so I don't know their ranges, how often they fold to 3bets, what hands they call 3bets with, what hands they 4bet with and what their postflop tendencies are
c) I am often going to get called by hands that dominate me, and I am very rarely (if ever) going to get called by hands which my hand dominates
I realise here that I have probably just answered my own question but would like some more opinions on it. Is this just a terrible spot to squeeze?
