$25 NL HE Full Ring: AK 3 bet from BB

BB is a nit; 6/4/4, 3 bet rate of 2 over 377 hands.

Is he smart enough to think that I might be iso-raising light, and/or to see the squeeze opportunity? In other words, might his range be looser than his normal range to 3 bet me in this situation?

lol what an uber nit. hes def not 3 betting worse. To be honest, I'd just fold. Your implied odds are terrible. Hes not stacking off with QQ if an A or K is showing. Hes not gonna stack of with AQ on an A25 board. He prob wont evne stack off with KK if an ace is showing. He most likely is only going to get it in if his hand is way ahead of yours. If your AK was sooted than I would call and hope to hit some sort of monster draw, like 2 overs and a flush draw or something. But since your unsuited I would just fold.

Dump it. AK requires either fold equity or dead money in the pot to stack off pre. We have neither.

And flopping an A or K vs. a nit really isn't going to get us a very large pot. And rarely they'll flop a set at the same time for the ultimate coolerness.

He's never getting out of line with much worse (QQ is probably the bottom of his range) and he's never going to pay you off with worse if you hit. Just fold and steal his blinds to make your $1 back.

I think these make the most sense. I have a tendency to look for plays being made by player who either aren't capable of making them or don't know what they are to begin with.

I ended up making a smallish raise to see if he'd shove with the plan to fold, but instead he flatted. Flop came AQx and I was committed.

Lay it down. I would lay down QQ v. someone with those stats.

are those his stats for the session or what you've data mined? is he multi tabling or taking an interest?

Your 3 bet looks pretty weak due to the iso, so he has every reason to think your on the steal. Unless you yourself don't raise limpers op very often.

All that being said why not just four bet and call a shove?
im not sure what the odds are but seen as you hold an A and a K it does reduce the chance of him holding AA or KK.

And with those nit stats he might even fold QQ or JJ in fear of AA and KK.

But like i said i don't know much history of the 233 hands is between you and him.

AK is no good here.

If memory serves me correct (it's been a while since I've watched poker on TV - your chances of getting AA is 271:1 or so.

I believe this player can be profited from (by raising his blinds, and calling him light and outflopping him - ) but as it is you're looking for either a KK on the flop w/o A, or a TJQ flop, four to a flush, or the board to present quads for a chop.

Not to say he can't be bluffing you here - you are much safer to fold and get it back in blinds.
