I definitely check here, because there are some missed draws and hands better than us. Not many hands are calling a 3rd barrel that don't now have us beat. I almost think this is a ch/f though. It really sucks but a huge portion of his range is a J here I think. I also expect him to check back 89-type hands because they have showdown value. I just think that he has more jacks than missed draws in this spot. I guess if he gives us a great price we can make a crying call but this might just possibly be a ch/f.

edit: also if he has a J he's betting 100% of the time, that's not the case with missed draws.

I do not envy the spot you are in but I would probably lose my stack when he shows his AJ suited. I would bet maybe 50% of pot and hope villain just calls at worse. A re-raise all in would definitely be a red flag but at least you save some of your stack or you could end up taking the whole thing when he sets down his AQ suited (going for flush).

Anybody think making a stab at the pot for only 50% of pot is good or should he check?

This is either a check call against most opponents or a check fold against the most passive ones. No hand that you beat calls a bet here.

Also, I bet a little bigger on each street which kind of makes the river decision easier, tbh.

Preflop i raise pot, i.e. $0.85.

Pot on flop is now $3.5. I bet $3.

Pot on turn is now $10.5, I bet $8.

Pot on river is $26.5 and villain has about $8 left. Check-calling is now a no-brainer.

Same result, but we earn more Sklansky bucks. That's good for karma.
