Hero ?

Looking at his stats show that preflop this guy likes to squeeze (13%) I'm wondering if he just also likes to squeeze on the flop here. He could also have any medium overpair which he thinks is good but as a caller sets are in his range. Can't imagine he puts me on a set here.
suggestions What would you do here?

Id shove and see him call with 77 or 88, If he ad the straight, theres no need to raise in position with no flush draws on.

If he had a bigger set then Thats Poker!

Even if he had 78 you have about 35%

Edit
($24.96 * 0.35) - ($18.17 * 0.65) = $-3.0745
Against a 78 Its -EV

Likely hands are 33, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, TT, 34, 23, 45, 56, 67, 78with JJ+ possible but unlikely. Some of those hands are BAAAD, but if he is fishy, they are likely in his range. I would weight heavily towards 33, 55, 66, 34, 45, 56, 67, 78 & 77; covering all the big made hands and realistic draws. Of those hands you are only in bad shape against 55, 66, & 78. Obviously if you face a big over pair you are absolutely crushing. I would tend to ship it. If you lose, well losing is part of poker.

shove unless you have good reason to think he's scared money that won't make such a play without the nuts. you'll be surprised how often this is 2 pair or top pair open ended straight draw.

Ok update
I called on the flop and the turn was 3 diamonds bringing 4 to a straight . We are first to act, what do we do now?

See Post above Id fold cos he has 77 LOL

I read somewhere that once you assign a range you narow it down but you shouldnt change that range and add hands back in or evan add hands that werent in the original range as the hand progresses. If he has the straight you still have 10outs or about 20% to improve. If he has a SET over set then

Think only about 1 Pot bet left, he could still have over Pair, 2 pair Set or straight.

If you are willing to call a Bet then shove

PS look on the bright side you aint got bottom set anymore :)
