$25 NL HE 6-max: WTF do I do here?

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 43/19/2

Many times I find myself with AK where I completely whiff and I'm not sure if check folding or c-betting is better. Villian here is 43/19/2, and I've seen him call with all sorts of shit. Honestly I just convinced myself he wasn't letting go of any pair and of course any part of the board. Is this a mandatory c-bet because the board is so dry, even though we're against a station?

With a relatively dry flop, I do see this as a mandatory cbet, with a fold to a raise - even if he does call the pf 3bet, he's got to be putting you on either AK or a solid pp, you don't even need to make it a big cbet, you can get away with a smaller 60% bet (which can be interpreted as strength rather than weakness), I'm always surprised by how frequently I get away with this with AK unimproved.

Really interested in others' thoughts on this situation - I think I saw that bw is planning a post on playing 3bet pots, haven't checked to see if he's done that yet.

Well I feel a value position bet was in need. I would bet $4....I mean you raised preflop from someone who raised, but then flat called.

Usually from a station this means.overcards or lower pocket pair, PP....with no bet on the flop being that he is a calling station (probably not the smartest player) That is my guess. Then the weird turn bet was a bait/value bet into the pot.I'm thinking kj...but quite potentially PP..

I think he would raise less on the turn or on the flop if he had a monster.

This is a fine way to play it, but you should always always call the turn bet, since you are checking flop to keep all of the non pair hands in and lots of these will bluff turn

I'd probably call the turn bet and hope to check it down... I feel like we can beat lots of Ace rag type hands, two spades, etc.

Also note that we need to call $3.75 to win $13.10, or 3.5:1... if we figure an A or K gives us the best hand then we're 12% to hit those, and since 1/4.5 = 22%, Villain needs to hold less than a pair only 10% of the time, which is probable. His bet is small enough to justify a call here. Anyone see holes in my math?

This. If you don't C-bet the flop, then you have have have have to call the turn bet unless villain is a super passive nit. Here, villain is a braindead loose semi-aggressive fish, so calling is very very good.
