Very much THIS. I'm just folding here. The problem is that you will, on occasion, discover an opponent who went crazy which positively reinforces otherwise spewy behavior. That's the exception, rather than the rule, IME.
Against an aggro opponent, probably not much difference long-term between betting the turn and check/calling. I think I prefer the latter, in an attempt to get to a cheap showdown.
