Villain is 22/18/2

I tend to really get stuck in BvB.

PartyGaming - $0.25 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG: $38.38
CO: $30.41
BTN: $26.36
SB: $34.52
Hero (BB): $25.35

SB posts SB $0.10, Hero posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero has T:club: J:heart:

fold, fold, fold, SB raises to $0.75, Hero raises to $2.50, SB calls $1.75

Flop: ($5.00, 2 players) K:heart: A:diamond: 8:diamond:
SB checks, Hero bets $3.00, SB calls $3.00

Turn: ($11.00, 2 players) 6:diamond:
SB checks, Hero bets $6.25, SB calls $6.25

River: ($23.50, 2 players) Q:club:
SB bets $11.16, Hero ?

Also, the decision to 3-bet vs. flat pre could go both ways. Same with barreling the turn, what's your rationale behind the turn bet?

Villain's f3bet %? Flop is fine, turn I'm checking back to bink Q ;) (nah, I'm giving up on turn). Given we do bink, is villain super tight post flop? If he's a good player who can make thinnish calls etc. (and doesn't only lead river with the flush to stop you checking back your Ax), I would say shove.

TBH, unless villain is one of those whose raise first stats just carry on rising up to and including the SB, I'm flatting pre. Check that out. If for example he's raising more from the SB than the CO/BTN and has a highish f3bet, then 3betting BvB is printing money.

maybe I'm a major fish but snap jam I reckon.. does he not raise FDs on the flop and if not check raise the turn?

depends on his fold to 3 bet stat..

and I hate BvB too.

Having the BB, HU vs SB is the best possible position we could be in, I don't understand where any level of discomfort comes from playing bvb in position.

I flat this nearly %100 of the time preflop - 3betting is profitable but gets us in ****ed up spots when he flats with dominating hands despite us having position. We can eek out more profit overall by 3betting wider and increasing our flatting range.

Not a real fan of 3betting here preflop. Our hand plays just fine IP in a smaller pot.

As played I jam over his river bet.

Also, I'd like your turn bet if you had the Jd but without it I'd just check back unless he habitually floats flops OOP but always gives up to a double barrel or something.

This.

As played I'm snap jamming river

Thanks guys, I will try to outline some of my thought processes street by street.

Pre
My 3b inclination stems from my PLO background in not wanting to play easily dominated hands without the lead. I guess I was not particularly comfortable playing a weak drawing hand without the lead, hence the 3b to try and 'lock in' some profit. As I readjust back to nlhe, I will probably look for more spots like this to flat.

Flop
I think as played the cb is a given. My sizing is quite small given the size of the 3b flop.

Turn
This is obviously the most questionable move and there is a method in the madness (although I am not claiming it is right). I barrel the scare card because I feel that this sort of villain will almost always raise a FD on the flop, and there are so few FD combos available with the Ax Kx eliminated. I feel like so many regs give up here that the 1/2 pot bet shows profit. I also don't want to check behind because I am drawing to 4 q's. 1 pair hand has no showdown value against a lot of the weak pairs in his range. I.e. I am a barreling monkey :)

River
I snapped off the call without even contemplating a raise. I was pretty disappointed to see I left some good coin on the table...

I just noticed a typo. I tend to get "stuck in" in BvB not stuck. Ultra aggro monkey and all that

If this were PLO I'd be pretty happy to see the SB raise every time it folds to him.
