River shove seems fine here right (as opposed to another bet size)? I wish I would have bet $4.25 OTT, but it's a small difference in the hand. I wanted to leave him with about PSB on river. I would have called a river bet by Villain.

Personally I wouldn't shove here.
I was trying to range him as the hand went along and concluded he had either a spade draw, Jx or a slow played set in that sort of order.
If he is drawing he ain't calling anything on the end unless he gets there in which case he pretty much has the nuts and will put you all in regardless. Jx shouldn't call a shove but might call a suck bet and any set just puts you all in as well. I would have bet 25% pot on the river looking for thin value from Jx and would have tried to fold if he shoves the river. Shoving really only gets called by better and as we only have 1 pair there is lots better
Not saying I could get away from the hand as Id probably put him on a busted flush draw. T7 of spades also got there as well, but he could also have J9 J8 for 2 pair. So overall only something like AJ might be the only thing worse that can call our shove.

I didn't put any 2p or sets in his range, maybe occasionally he shows up with 89 spades (I didn't think about that then). My reasoning was that at 25NL everyone raises sets and 2p on draw heavy boards. I did give some thought to QT of spades, but I didn't think he would check the nuts to me in the river (my turn bet wasn't that strong!). So I mostly put him on Jx.

Not saying I was correct, just what I was thinking at the time.

btw, what were you trying to achieve by a river-shove? Were you inducing a call from AJ, KJ, QJ? He called you all the way and if was on flush chase, he would be gone either way; had xJ he would have evaluated and folded eventually, I suppose.

I would have CHECKED!

Well, I would have checked back all of my Jx hands, as if we have a J it's less likely he has one... I may have put in a small bet with AJ, and likely folded to a shove. I would have called a river bet by him. Checking back seemed like missed value from Jx, granted a busted draw is never calling, but I wanted to give him the option to hero call, obviously he showed up with the stone cold nuts.

The longer I think about this hand the less I like the shove too, the villain hasn't played a bunch of hands which indicates he is likely aware and not a drooler, so am I really expecting him to call a PSB river shove with worse? Obviously I overplayed this hand.
