Villain is short stacked, and very loose and aggressive (33/14/5), but only over a small sample. I felt he would call this raise with TP, since he was very aggro post-flop. Since the board is so dry is a call better here, or at least a smaller raise more appropriate- in the 3X range, not the min bet range? Also, would you consider 3-betting him here based on his style of play?

I think considering stack sizes, I prefer smooth-calling to commit him on the turn. The flop is very dry, and we don't want to scare off a smaller pair that might decide to put in another bet later.

Based on his style, I think it's better to smooth-call as well. He'll most likely get another bet in the turn, and we can trap him then. This also depends on how you've been playing too...I mean if you haven't done anything but raise/fold up to this point, then he might slow right down with a call, but decide to get his stack in if you raise...

Id prefer raising turn. I think thats my default play in this situation against that opponent. Or you could raise smaller but since hes betting into you, why scare off a medium pair

Same here. I'd rather raise the turn, his stack isn't that big and you're not far from getting him committed, he's put in $3.50 already and has $8.90 left.

Although its true there is a chance that a smooth call on the flop slows him down and he won't bet the turn, if that happens then I think he won't call the raise on the flop either.

You say he's aggressive, and many times aggressive players do the betting for you. Given the size of his remaining stack (he doesn't have a full buy-in) and the fact he's aggressive, I think its much better to give him a chance to fire again on the turn, which he likely will do, rather than risking to lose him here.

Another reason I don't like the raise is that he entered this pot limping at first, so if he does have a K its likely a weak one, and your raise might scare him off his TP if he does have it, or get him concerned he might be behind if he has a medium PP or if he made middle pair.

This is an ideal situation, you have a set, he's first to act and he's betting into you.

This flop is good for a slowplay. There is no chance for a flush and a very longshot straight. A raise on the trun would be better to get more in the pot.

So, you don't think it's suspect to cold call his lead after showing aggression pre-flop? I think a raise is in order here, but I think it needed to be smaller. Any thoughts on that?

Well there was only one raise preflop, yours.

You could very well have AQ, QQ, JJ, TT, and pretend to have slowed down postflop cause you missed or afraid of the King.

Besides, a typical aggressive shortstacked player at 25NL wont slow down with top pair.

I think a call is better in the cases where he doesnt have top pair, maybe he has a medium pair of his own and is betting out.

If you raise he may put you on AK and still be able to walk out of it cheap.

If you call, he has to decide on turn. And typically shortstacked players are looking to double up, so they have 2 find any edge they can.

So im pretty sure hes taking another stab at it and committing himself on turn.

I smooth call cause of the small stacks. Let him hang himself on turn. If he checks to me on turn I make a small bet of 3.5$. Also, I don`t like your raise pf against so many shorties. I would prefer checking your BB there.
