Call? Re-raise?...Fold? I'm at 13.8/10.5/1.5 but there is no way he knows that.

Then that doesn't matter :)

What you usually should be doing in spots like these is calling the flop and trying to get a cheap showdown. It's possible he's got you beat with QQ+ or maybe a set, but he's also got lots of unimproved overcards as well.

By calling the flop, you're telegraphing a hand of similar strength to your actual hand, and villain should slow down with AK/AQ etc unless he's really aggressive (it's rare you'll see very strong double barrels here imo). Without a really really good read (which I assume you don't have after one hand ;)), you have to fold to a significant turn bet UI here. I think occasionally you'll get pushed out by 99/TT, but we have to accept that risk since we really don't want to commit too many chips here.

Raising accomplishes nothing aside from ending the hand quicker - it only gives better hands more money, and shuts out the hands we have beat.

But ya, my default line here vs an unknown is to call pf like you did, play my position to try to keep the pot small and hopefully see a showdown.

the guy has already commited 13 dollars to the pot and has 16 dollars total. so you know he will be throwing in those last three dollars to a reraise or he will push them in on the turn as he is pot commited.

Villain in this hand has a full stack.

I agree with what Chuck said; call the flop. Folding is much too weak and raising accomplishes very little since you'll be the dog on average the times that more money goes in before the turn. If he fires another barrel on the turn, folding is an option. You can be worried about folding the best hand vs. TT and 99, but AK/AQ aren't - generally speaking - that happy about firing a second barrel.

If he checks the turn, check behind. Try to get some money off of him on the river unless it's an ace.

Basically? Keep the pot small and don't fold the flop.

I guess this must be a pretty obvious answer, or people just don't have a lot to say about it. Anyways I did just call the bet on the flop then we checked it down and the villain showed AKs and I took down the pot. I probably could've bet the river but I thought that I was only going to get called if I was beat.

looks fine as played. depending on the board, a river value bet could have been either side of marginal.

I think a small river value bet is best, but the way you played it is fine and avoids the possibility of the CR.
