I know that the odds for trip Queens was pretty good but never imagined that someone would stay in with me betting and raising every time for a straight. When should I have stopped or should I?

I would have probably check/called from the flop on. You are heads-up with a hand that is difficult to improve on, and there are quite a few scare cards out there.

Edit: I could see re-raising on the flop, but after that simply check/call.

I think the more appropriate question is "When should I have started betting?".

Maybe there was some special circumstance at your table...but, what is with your bet sizing?

You open raised AA for only 2X the BB??? Were you hoping for a re-raise from later positions? Why didn't you open for 3X-4X? Is 2X the BB your standard opening move?

Secondly, the flop comes...obviously you are scared of the queens. Someone bets 1X the BB and you min re-raise here?? What is this accomplishing?

This min re-raise is making the pot bigger for someone with queens and it isnt getting rid of any drawing hands or other assorted nonsense. You really needed to bet a lot bigger right here. I am thinking when he put out a .50 cent bet...you bump it to $2 maybe $3?? At this point, only a Qx hand is calling, so, you are either going to take down the pot or fold out to the Qx.

Think about this...with your play on the flop/turn/river....you put in $2.50 right? If you put that same $2.50 into just the flop, you would lose the same amount if you fold to a shove or c/f the turn....but, you will win the pot virtually every time no one has a queen in their hand.

I agree with all of this..........If it wasn't limit holdem.
I can just imagine you playing :joyman: "why isn't the bet slider working.":joyman:

I can see an argument for just calling the river since calling a river 3 bet is probably losing and r/f river with AA sucks.

If he is going to show up with JT, then he is going to show up with 8x,9T,AT,AJ,KJ and random suited spades. I like the way you played it. If he had shown down this sort of hand before then I would CERTAINLY raise/call river.

I am so so so sorry...my deepest apologies for my ignorance. I never saw the limit thingy....oh jesus.

I'd say i suffer from a lack of attention to detail...but, I did look at the bet sizing, stack sizing, etc...but, wow, i certainly feel the tool!!!

Anyway...my apologies, I have no excuse for not reading more carefully.

sorry.

Don't feel bad. I check out all the limit hands posted, and there are always at least two "should have raised more pre/post-flop" comments. If someone can show me how to do that, PM me please. :D

I think you played this hand just fine. This is going to be a king or an eight or some other weirdly played hand that you beat a significant portion of the time and definitely enough to make raising every street worth it.

i would have played your hand the same way... coz in the long run, you would end up winning more $ than him chasing with those kind of hands. expect him to call or limp more hands and you will mostly likely beat him with a better hand. continue to bet with your premiums and expect him to call with either mid pair or even lower.

think I would have raised more pre/post flop but this caller could just be a chaser and there wasn't a thing you could do
