PF is really bad IMO. Limping first in, especially in the hijack is really weak, as is the call. We're out of position with a HU raised pot, and a marginal hand. SC's are great for limping in multiway pots, or calling a raise with multiple other people in the hand (mmm implied odds).

re: the flop...what's with the minraises?

I probably can't get away from this, but I also play this much differently.

You really have to bet way more here on the flop imo. Yeah, you have a strong hand, but a lot of hands have outs against your hand, so reraise strong, if you're beat, so be it. I agree with Chuck on the preflop part.

raising PF gets KQ out a lot of the time, even with him having position.

People see hands like 7-8 suited and say great suited connectors good hand to play and possible stack someone with I should limp in.

This is good thinking with position and others already on the pot (remember if you hit you want someone else in the hand with a lesser hand so you want a muliway pot).

However it's almost never a good idea to limp first in. If you limp in most people will put you on suited connectors or small pairs making it harder for you to make money if you do hit and you must make money when you hit with a hand like this to make up for all the times you will have to fold the flop.

If you make a preflop bet, like chuck said, you disguise your hand very well and possibly get other hands out that might beat you.

Rarely limp when first in a pot, especially in ring games.

I either raise or fold a SC UTG.

It's unlikely you are going to stack TP when you only check min-raise.

After he raises your min-raise I'm pushing.

EP is actually a much better spot to limp a SC. I'd say it goes LP>EP>MP. That way we can possibly induce a chain of limps, or maybe call a smallish raise behind us if enough people call it.

Raising utg is fine once in a while to switch your play up against regulars, but most of the time you'll either get called with a marginal hand OOP, most probably up against a medium pair or weak ace (which won't give us great implied odds), or you'll get reraised to an amount you can't call. LP is by far the worst spot for a limp first in.

i think we would all do better if we never open-limped in 6m nlhe....

however on that flop i'm stacking off every time.. set/2pr is soooooo likely there
