Villain is 30/8/2, and my only note on him says "table captain," which typically means that he thinks that he plays well, and he wants others to think he plays well.

On the turn, a flushdraw got there, and I'm juggling betting for value (vs. Jx), betting for protection (vs. AhX and T9) and wondering what size to bet to - if possible - allow myself to fold if I get shoved on.

The effective stack on the turn is $160. I decided to bet $55, with the intention of calling a shove (betting an amount where he might think he has fold equity if he shoves), but I wasn't happy with it and in retrospect I think I did it versus the wrong villain.

Thoughts?

MP ($350.91)
Hero (CO) ($321.05)
Button ($231.40)

Hero bets $28, BB calls $28, 1 fold

Turn: ($95) [3h] (2 players)

Oh, and just to clarify: He's not in the big blind. It's the converter that thinks he is; he posted in the cut-off. I'm in the hijack.

Isn't a "table captain" always betting the scare card if you check?

He might be. Is my play to c/r AI on the turn, then?

If we think he'll bet all his legitimate hands on the turn to protect vs me drawing to a flush (which, in a sense, I am), and also semi-bluff bet T9, then I like it. But if he'll check behind draws, I'm not sure it's good, but perhaps it is.

I'll have to play around with PokerStove I think, get some feel for what combos he might have here. I'm not particularly sure what his range is preflop for calling a raise in position after posting.

Maybe something like 22+, 87s+, QJo+, KJs+, AJo+, ATs+? That's 12%, which even seems a little low.
