£1/£2 blinds. Playing 5 handed.

Hero has about £200
Villian has £60

UTG folds
CO calls
Hero calls with 76o on button (should probably have raised here)
Villian completes SB
BB checks

Pot: £8
Flop: 734 (2 diamonds)

Villian bets £8
2 folds
Hero raises to £22
Villian goes all in for £58
Hero ??

Villian is quite LAG. I'm usually TAG at FR but have been playing quite LAG myself seeing as we're 5 handed. The last time I raised the villian on the flop I did so with a flush draw, which I then hit. Apart from that my raises have generally been taking pots down.

Are we committed to calling at this point?

I think this is a call every time.

Running this through PokerStove and assigning your villain a range of any 7, any 2 diamonds, all pairs up to 99 (although he would have likely raised preflop with most of those), any 56, and 10% bluffs with overs, you have 58% equity. So what I'm saying is that this is a call and it's not really close. Add in the fact that he's so short (and probably bad) and I might do a little fist-pump as I snap-call.

yeah, it's a call. i wouldn't be surprised if his range is somewhat tighter than the one WVH outlined, but it's still very much a call getting 2.5:1 or so

the most important learning point i can make about this hand is that you can't be raising here and not knowing what to do when he shoves for the rest. poker is like chess in some ways; a great chess player is never making a move without consideration for how his opponent will counter that move and how he will then counter each of those moves. having a plan for the hand is essential

any spot where another player has bet and there's a very real chance of him 3bet shoving if i raise, i'm only raising if i already know exactly what i'm going to do when he shoves [note: only exception to this could i guess be, particularly in live poker, if he gives off some sort of tell when shoving that changes my perception of his range... but this is very rare]. i'm either raise/folding and feeling good about it or raise/calling and feeling good about it. if it's a situation where i'm going to feel stuck (like maybe the hand you posted, except if we were both about £30 or £40 deeper), then that makes a very good case for just calling the initial bet. but to realize that, you have to plan steps ahead

What combu said. Can't raise and then not know what to do if he shoves.

This is good to hear, I did call. Reasons:

- I'm getting 2.5:1

If he's got an overpair then I have 10 outs
If he's got overcards I'm good
If he's got a flush draw I'm good
If he's got a 7 then I have 7 outs
If he's got a set then ah well, I have 4 outs to attempt to bust it, but this is a very narrow part of his range.

I post this cos I got some critism for making this call, but given the price I was getting I couldn't see how I could pass..

Oh, and villian had 75 - so I won. Given the price he was giving me I found this a somewhat questionable push by the villian.
