$200 NL HE Full Ring: Straight on paired board facing raise

Sigh, another (almost mistake less) session, and another lost buyin. I've lost 4 buyins this week. I'm pretty sure I made no mistakes this session except for this one:

No reads on villian, new to table. I've got $125, he has $180.

Preflop, UTG limps, villian limps in the CO, button limps, I complete SB w/ J

, bb checks. Flop comes Q

. Pot is $10, I bet $8, villian calls in the CO. Turn is 10

, pot is $26, I bet $15, villian calls. River is 5

. I bet $25, villian raises to $48. Hero?!?

Live casino play man... If you've been playing there all week and this guy's readless (i.e. you haven't seen him before) then you gotta assume he's an idiot I'm afraid... From your tone, I'm assuming he has FH and you called... But you gotta call, you're gonna get idiots raising with two-pair here, and perhaps just as a bluff...

You were SB though, with a small-ish stack... Check-raising the flop may have been order of the day... Drawy board like that, people with hands here are gonna be betting I think...

Edit: Just realised JK beats you too... So there's JK, QT, QQ, 99, TT... It's pretty marginal, but I think I'd be calling... Others might be able to help a bit more here, I can't say I really have that much of a clue... I'd be calling though, couldn't fold that straight incl. 2 hole cards in a live casino cash game...

He raises another $23 on top, this is an easy call, if he's got full house, so be it, not like he shoved for stacks.

And T9. And I agree. Either checkraise this flop or don't get mad when you fail. You would have been broken hearted had everybody folded to your bet.

And if the action goes check around then when the board pairs on the turn you can proceed with caution. The pot is still $10, and you can float a turn and river bet and only cost you another $40 tops, assuming he bets pot on both streets.

Out of position with big hands I like to check, because it gives those with position on me a chance to bet, people to call, and me to raise. Then when the dread card hits on the turn, I'm $2 into a $10 pot, and I can see a river and showdown cheaply with a big hand that is pretty much forced to play.

Too many combinations of trips out there for me to fold just because the board pairs.

I think the river is a pretty easy check call. It allows whiffed diamonds and Jx to bluff, and saves us money the times villain does have a fullhouse or KJ. As played his raise isnt legal so its a call, thus there is no decision lol... but assuming it was a min raise or we bet slightly less on the river or it was a typo or whatever I call since its so cheap

Id also c-r the flop rather than lead
