$1/$2 NL cash. Hero has $100, Villain has ~$200 and is new to the table.

Live $5 straddle. Villain calls $5.
Hero picks up :6c4: :6s4: and calls $5 in early position.
Three other players call, straddle checks.

Flop :8h4: :6d4: :3s4: Pot: ~$25
Villain bets $10. Hero calls $10. Two others call.

Turn :5c4: Pot: ~$65
Villain bets $40. Hero goes all-in for $85. Two other players fold.
Villain says "You were open-ended and caught your straight" and folds/shows :3d4: :3c4:

While I complimented her on the fold and it saved her money in this instance, am I wrong to believe that she actually made a horrible laydown to an unknown? Did she really believe I limped in from early position with 97? She had a set and only owed $45 to a $190 pot...

Thoughts?

It's a terrible fold. I've seen about a bajillion people limp in there with 87, 67, 68, 85, 64, 54, A8, and a bunch of other hands that would be played the same way by a normal bad 1/2 live player. Even if she KNOWS you have 97, as a fact, she is still getting the necessary odds to call the extra $45. Exploit the crap out of her with draw-y check raises

Yeah, that's a horrible fold. Even if you do have the straight she still wins whenever the board pairs on the river which happens almost 25% of the time.

Buy in full. What's your plan if someone raises behind?

As played, raise the flop not the turn.

She was new to the table. I had been there for awhile and my stack had dwindled recently.

Horrible fold, you should've gotten the other $45 out of her. I guess there is always the chance that the case 3 could have popped up on the river. This seems to happen more often than it should on some sites. A win is a win tho.

It was live. No online odds here!
