Not sure. If he's holding TPTK then any bet will probably force him out, cause the 4th spade will have definitely killed the action if that's the case. But I think you have to bet to get value out of sets or the K of spades. I'd probably be betting 1/2 pot expecting him to fold. If not another 1/2 pot on the river, assuming the board doesn't pair.
It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. You're looking for a set or KQ/KK with the K of spades, ideally. They're the only hands you're getting more money out of and they make up a significant part of his range I think. I think checking is too big a risk, unless you think there's a better than average chance he'll bluff at the turn, that's the only reason I'd be checking.
