$200 NL HE Full Ring: QQ UTG, a bit excessive?

This was live so I don't have a real hand history. The table is normal, some nits, some loose, no one too aggressive. My stack is about $250.

UTG I'm dealt QQ, I limp. MP (~$70) raises to $7, 3 calls. I reraise to $52. All fold.

Was this raise too big? My intention was to limp/raise. I made this bet pretty big because I wanted to get the original raiser to commit himself if he played the hand, and to make my call easier if he shoves.

I think that in limping and re-raising UTG you just told everyone at the table that you had either AA or KK so chances are all would have folded regardless of the size of your re-raise... assuming they were any good. I am not sure how 200NL live compares but I guess its simliar to 5-10NL online?

IMO you will get more deception by simply doing the same thing regardles of what hard you have and what you want to acheive with your raise... you do usually raise right?!

Dont limp!

you say no one is too aggressive so you decide to limp hoping someone raises? Wat.

Yes. When I say no one is too aggressive, I mean no one was making huge preflop raises like they usually do at 1/2, but there were preflop raises to $8 or $10 about 70% of the hands. I felt with QQ, I'd be out of position with 2 players if I opened, and I didn't want to open too big for fear of getting zero action. Had I been on the button I probably would've raised to $35. I was content with taking the pot preflop, just wondering if I would achieve the same with a raise to ~$28 - $35.

Why not just open raise to $10 or $12 and play some poker postflop with a couple of callers?

I didn't pick up many EP raising hands in the 9 hour session, I was down to $52 early with nothing left in my pocket to reload, got it all in and straightened my pair out, started to get something rolling and worked my stack to $250. I don't play live poker in a casino all that often and didn't want to get stuck in a hand I couldn't fold, I know if I open raised to $10 or $12 I would probably been 3 or 4 way out of position, and I'm too stubborn to give people credit for an A or K if it hits and will go on to donk off another $50 or so while they call me down with A8. And just forget about if the board runs all lows and they flopped a set.

If I'm UTG or UTG+1 I'd rather get a smaller pocket pair and open raise because I think they are easier to play out of position.

You probably shouldn't be playing live if you're playing scared IMO
