Background:

SB is sticky, mostly a tournament player. I caught him bluffing earlier in this session after he check called my flop bet, led turn and shoved river. I flopped top pair on :jd4: :9s4: :4d4: :as4: :ad4: with 10 8 off for a missed straight

We are 5 handed, action folds to the SB

SB (Villain) $220: completes

BB (ME) $113: :ah4: :kc4:

I raise to $15
SB calls

FLOP

:kh4: :9h4: :4s4:

SB leads for $12

I call

TURN

:6h4:

SB bets $40

What do you do?
Should I have raised flop with TPTK?

I will add my thoughts later on

Yes probably I would raise on the flop if villain led $12 only, irrespective whether I have Ah. If the donk flop bet is $20, perhaps I would call with Ah, and raise without Ah butyour stack size limits post-flop maneuver room.

As played, I don't think the opponent would fold if I raise on the turn unless he has very weird bluff. Would he play KQ,KJ,KT,87o this way? probably not. I think his range is composed of more value heavy like set (44,99) . flush (JhTh,QhJh) or top two pairs K9.

I would be more inclined to raise to $36 on the flop.
As played, I would fold here unless you have a live read he is bluffing or has shown overplay mid pairs.

Yes, raise the flop. I would raise to about $40. You have to fold as played I think.

In a 5 handed game one must loosen up their raising range. AK is a must raise 5-handed, in position. The raise size was good too. I also think TPTK is a must raise on the flop especially with a two tone board and such a small bet donk bet, $12 into a $30 pot OOP. After Villain's raise she has $86 behind and with your call there is $54 in the pot for an effective stack to pot ratio of less than 2. A $30 bet commits Villain to the pot. I call a shove.

As played, you are guessing and Ifold, with the maxim, "Never go broke calling a pair."

I like raising the flop as a default, but I don't think it's mandatory. I think you can definitely call flop when you hold the A of hearts.

As played on turn I think we have a fairly mandatory just call. We have far too much equity vs potential range to fold, and raising becomes an overplay or a bluff - neither of which are good here imo.

I'd be calling and looking to play rivers as they come. If we make the nuts great. If we don't and we get into, it's a "look at the guy and decide" type spot.

I would rip it in, your stack is too short to fold as played, and being short handed he could have a VERY wide range here. Might be value betting a worse king, bluffing with turned equity ect. But you shouldnt fold the turn and probably shouldnt fold the river either based on the price you will be getting. When short stacked its probably best to keep the betting lead here with the plan of getting it in on the turn.

Equilab says even with a very wide range of 88-33,A8s-A2s, K2s+,Q6s+,J7s+, T7s+,96s+, 85s+,74s+, 64s+,53s+,43s,A9o-A2o,K7o+,Q8o+,J7o+, T7o+,97o+,85o+,75o+,65o, you are 88% favorite after the turn. Plus you have the :ah4:.

It's possible you have the best hand. I could see him floating the flop and taking advantage of the turn heart. If he has a flush you have the nut flush draw. If he has a wacky two pair hand, you have outs as well.

With your stack size, he's gonna call a shove which may not be a bad thing. The :kh4: on the board is a big plus as it takes out a lot of Kxs hands he may have. The flop would have been much worse if it was :ks4: :9h4: :4h4:.
If you call and the 4-flush comes, you'll never get paid.
Being this far ahead of his range, I think you shove.
