$200 NLHE Full Ring: Live Casino Game: Good/Bad lines
*There should be a "?" at the end of the topic title since i dont know if i did anything right on these hands*. It's been quite awhile since I've played a casino game or a home game for that matter, and i don't play online anymore so my game is falling behind. But anyways, was playing a live game the other night and ran into these 2 spots against the same villain. I had no real read on villain since he has not been at the table real long. He was sitting with around $300 where i was just a little over $200.
Im Dealt AKs on the BTN:
Theres a few limps around to me so i bump it up to $10 (that was the tables standard raising size so i chose to keep it around that amount). Folds around to villain sitting just off the high jack seat who makes the call.
He checked to me. I opted to Cbet here since villain didn't really have any reads on me. I think i bet around $15. He comes over the top for around $35. I make the call.
He checks again. I bet here (sizing was around $40 or so). He makes the call.
Villain Checks. I opt to check.
Going over the hand in my head, my thoughts on calling the flop raise was i didn't feel like he was that strong and i could take the pot on a later street. So i show aggression again on the turn. And come the river i just no longer thought he was going anywhere so i gave up. I feel like i could have checked the flop and waited for a better spot where i could actually rep a hand other then an unlikely high PP in that spot. As played i probably should have shoved the river since it would be hard for him to call without having the flush himself.
2nd hand happened several orbits later. He was little over $300 and i was sitting just under $200.
Deal: There had been a few limps around to me where i raise to $12 with QQ. Folds around to villain who makes the call.
Flop: 887 os
He checks. I bet around $20. He raises to around $45. (this feels familiar). I think for a little and shove my last $114.
If it was not for the previous hand against this guy i might have played the hand differently. But as is its hard to just flat here and go to the turn. There are not a lot of good turn cards for me. Any over card, connecting card that completes possible draws. He limp/calls pre so i figure his range to be something like suited connects, Ax suited type hands, medium pp. I feel like its also possible for him to have a hand like A7 and thinks im choosing the same Cbet line with 2 overs. Calling did not leave me much chips behind to have much fold equity on later streets either. Just Raising obviously would have left me with almost little to no fold equity and would pot commit me on almost all turn/river cards if he chose to bet. I feel like an 8 is less likely a possibility for him to have over the other hands he could have.
How would you guys play these hands? Were any of my actions correct or wrong and why.
