more equity on the flop than the turn and your regaining initative earlier in the hand than if you c/r the turn.
Say he has a jack like JT you have any king,queen,ten or diamond to improve and so are favourite here. If he has a rag ace you've still got any ten or diamond. If he ONLY bets when he hits the flop he's likely to call a c/r IMO. If he c-bet 100% of the time a c/r might not be so good as it'd fold out his bluffs and just continue with hands you have less equity against.
Also c/ring on the turn will probably pot commit you (haven't done the maths) but a pot of $111 on the turn means when you c/r you'll have to call his shove. If you c/r on the flop you can get away from a flop shove.
