Live game, 200$ish effective.

2 limps, KK raise to 10$, lady to my left reraises to 22$. Very nice lady whose son was a poker pro. She didnt seem too experienced but had the good habit to almost always raise when entering pots.

Both limpers think and call the 22$. I shove for about 180$ more. I am hoping for one caller. Lady thinks thinks thinks and folds, first limper thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks and folds, (he folded JT suited lolol) second shortish limper calls with QQ. I win the pot.

An A flopped and when it did the lady absolutely cried in frustration. She folded AK she said. And she absolutely uncategorically put me on AA and that's why she folded. Had she put me on more than aces she would have snap called me with AK.

After the hand I asked why she reraised, she said she didn't want to go 4 way to the flop with AK (fair enough) and wanted to fold out the small, medium pairs and all the junk that could catch. Again fair enough.

But my question is regarding her read and especially the math behind it. Total pot about 240$ she needs to call about 150$ giving her less than two to 1 odds and against my super tight range is calling with AK just an -EV move in this spot?

I have issue with her putting me on one single hand but how would a "competent" player play AK in her spot.

Of course she viewed me as very tight, which I was

Thanks!

She needs ~37% and AK only has ~20% against a range of KK+ so it is a good fold. Which that range isn't a terrible assignment in a live 1/2 game. You would have to make this play with QQ+ and sometimes AK for her too call and even then it is breakeven.

I think her biggest mistake was only raising too $22. Should of made it $30-$35.

I agree with Iplay when you do the math based on the range of KK+ she isnt getting the right odds to make this call, if she had 3bet to $30-35 though she would have priced herself in to call if you shove but had she made it $30+ you lose the limpers and probably cause you to flat

Best case scenario, you have QQ, but you probably don't have QQ, you have KK+.

Live players don't do too much 4 betting for stacks. I like the fold. She's not in very good shape against what you probably have. Sometimes, she may be wrong.

I don't know about her, but I don't drive to the casino to flip coins (very very best case scenario) for $200+.

I guess you could say she accidentally made the right fold since by putting me on AA and only AA she automatically added the super strong other top hands in my range.

Thanks guys

The only way I think a call could be correct would be if she thinks you could have QQ or less. If you have KK+ (70+ dog or worse for her), then the call is not a good call. Someone please correct me if this statement is incorrect.

She is blocking KK+, but that doesn't mean it's impossible you have KK+.

I personally think someone told her something like "Live players never ever 4b without KK+."

If someone told her this, for the most part, that statement is accurate.

I personally would not have called your 4b either. I would 3b to $30-$35, and fold if you 4b me, but this is based on the assumption that I have not seen you 4b, and I don't think you're ever going to be out of line here.
