$200 NL HE Full Ring: Interesting River Decision

Live game raise from MP to $7 I flat with J8s IP. Flop comes J22 with 2 diamonds (I don't have a diamond). He cbets like 10 I call. Turn is offsuit 8 he bets 25 I call. River is offsuit 6 he checks I bet 2 he jams for his last 99. Am I crazy for wanting to call here? Villain's pretty aggro and seems to want to beat me pretty bad but also announced he was playing ABC poker against me and I'd level myself and give him his money (and honestly this seemed to be true, he hadn't made a ton of moves in the past). But what does he c/r that has me beat? There is a bricked flush draw as well.

u need to ask urself y u bet $2 on the end. U were in position so there was no need to make a blocking bet and a $2 bet for value is just pointless so u might aswell check. However, the $2 is good in the sense that it would make ur opponent want to shove, because if he had something like 6d5d then he can't just call because he has no showdown value with 6 high so folding to a min bet is embarrasing so he just shoves hoping to win the pot. I would definately call because with his preflop raise he doesnt rate to have a 2. The only possible way i see u being beat here is if he had 66.

Assuming the $2 is not a typo, then you very much have to call. Gay betting to induce action and folding to action is stupid as checking bach for a free showdown would obviously be much better.

btw, the ssnl ftp regs thread on 2+2 is full of gay river bets inducing shoves from air, so i guess it's a fashionable thing to do. Of course they only show the ones that work, so it's hard to say how profitable it is.

yeah if you're not snapcalling this then why are you minbetting river seeing as the only possible rationale i can see for a minbet is to induce a silly bluffraise.

size out the amount of chips equal to his raise, then take out your car keys and place them gently on top of the stack of chips, and slide them in

Wow... late night!

I talked a little about this hand with Zach via IM, and an important piece of info he left out is that this was against a CC member.
I think that changes things significantly.

What were you trying to do with the $2..? I would have raised that too because i would have sensed weakness in the $2 bet. I don't think he has a 2 but he could have a high pocket pair or a busted flush draw.
