I was sitting at live $1/$2 table. I had around $350.

Villain was a competent player, plays ATC, and has been running good. He had about $650.

I hold 6-6 in LP. Pot was raised to $10-$12 preflop by someone (not villain). We see the flop multi-way.

Flop was 6-4-4 rainbow. Around $50~$60 in pot.

All people check, until it gets to villain (he is seated directly to my right). Villain leads out for $100, and looks confident in doing so. Only $50-$60 in pot.

I was a thinking all the while until it got to villain of the best way to extract max value for my flopped FH. Villain really surprised me with huge over bet.

I contemplated for about 20 seconds. I figured villain must have a big 4, and maybe I should just ship it. I think he pays me off with A-4 or K-4.

So that is what I do, I ship all in for $350 or something around that.

Villain tanks for quite some time. He tries to talk to me to get info. He eventually asks me if I will show if he folds. Because villain is a nice guy, and really classy, I say yes. He finally folds and shows 4-5o.

I showed him my 6-6, as promised.

I felt like I blew my wad on this one. However, I really thought he would call. I put him on a much bigger 4.

In my defense, I have over bet monsters like this many times, and got paid. People at $1/$2 are not the smartest players.

Thoughts?

I thought about it of course. In hindsight, I wish I would have done that. I just thought he would pay me off. I thought it would look like a draw (5-7s perhaps, I limped, and then called raise preflop) or a weaker 4 than he had if I shoved.

I definitely figured the LAST hand he would think I had was 6's full.

Also, there were a couple other similar spots villain was involved in with other players. He did not fold to any pressure. That was the dynamic I was basing my play on. But in the end, I screwed myself. A smooth call would have guaranteed a double up by the river.

I just wanted to see if anyone else thought my line was incorrect also.

yes, call and hope for action from any of the other players in the hand. no reason to ship it in that spot when you are so far out in front of the others.

Flat call flop. Check/Jam turn or tank jam river if turn goes X/X.

hopefully next time villian holds 47 and catches the 7 on the river because you slow play your boat.

Yeah for sure. I got greedy with this one. Villain was just a better player than most of the $1/$2 fish. Most rec-fish would have called (I do plays like this somewhat frequently).

However, I think I am going to slow down next time.

If the hands that stack off will put the money in themselves given the chance there's no need to raise and take out his bluffs.

Allowing other players in to the hand is also a bonus. Multi-way we generally want to raise far less as it looks much stronger.

Very well said. I was super disappointed about my play in this hand. That is one of the reasons I posted it - so I would never make the same mistake again.

This is a simple call; not because you expect anyone behind to call (although a weak 4 may fold to your overshove), but because it gives Villain the rope to hang himself. If it's any consolation, if he is at all competent (which I doubt based on the $100 bet), he probably check/folds...but maybe he thinks you have a 6 and gets it in.
