This happened tonight at my local casino. $1/$2 NLHE.
Stack sizes:
Villain 1 : $450
Villain 2: 75
Hero: $300
- Villain raises from MP1 to $22 (Hand has been limped in, and $15 has been average raise size on this table. This is villains 4th Buy in tonight but he's gotten it in as a favourite in previous hands just got unlucky. Typical TAG)
- Villain 2 Calls from MP2
- Hero has AdQd in HJ and 3bets to $75
- Folds around to Villain 1 who 4bets all in
- Villain 2 goes all in.
- Pot size is roughly $385 with $75 of it being our own committed chips.
- Hero tanks for a while and decides ultimately to call.
- Board showed 710KA2
Villains hand:
So, few things to consider. This was the last hand of a 10 hour session and 3 buy ins. (i've managed to run all 3 buy ins up to about $500 but ultimately lost them to what I think are leaks that need fixing).
This is my THIRD 3 bet i've made all night, Villain 1 has been sitting for about 4 hours at the table and seen me 3bet only once before.
In my eyes the tight image I had means my 3 bet could ideally get villain to fold most of his PFR range.
Part of me thinks however just calling instead of 3 betting then shutting down when villain would ultimately c/bet on the flop with top set would be the better move? I'm not sure. I feel like If I didn't commit $75 to a 3bet then I wouldn't feel obliged to call off the other $225?
Any advice? I'm leaning towards just call and employ pot control on that flop because when he shoves into me preflop it puts me in a tough spot purely because of my 3 bet.
I feel my analysis is pretty spot on but any advice would be much appreciated.
