Effective stacks: $181 "villain's stack"

I was holding A:diamond: J:diamond: on the BTN. UTG+1, MP1 limp. I raise to $12.

BB, UTG+1, and MP1 call.

Flop: J:spade: 2:spade: T:heart: $48 in pot

I bet $40. BB calls, UTG+1 and MP1 fold.

The turn brings an 8:heart: $128 in pot

BB shoves for $129 ...

Shitty spot. As always, having a particular read on Villain (even age/gender) could really be of assistance here. As played, particularly live, I'm hugely tempted to fold b/c this is often two pair or similar trying to make FDs pay. For us to call profitably, V has to be shoving KQ, flush draws, and even QJ/KJ which I just don't see. Then again I probably play too nitty. If we have any read at V being competent/a reg, I'm snapping this off.

FWIW this play by villain stinks to high heaven.

I think he would do this with a very wide range of hands.

Do you have any info on villain to help you decide what he has here?

Villain takes his combo draws to showdown. I have seen him call 3 streets of betting with a pair and a draw

So donk-shipping is out of the ordinary for villain?

If this is true, then a fold is probably best.

It is an unpleasant spot. Yeah i guess if you have some read that villain doesn't usually donk-shove turn, it's probably to protect the set of 8s he just hit. With two flush draws on the board, he could also be looking to protect Q9, 79 straights - and even two pair hands like 10-8. Surely he would have raised J10 on the flop, but maybe he had some bright idea to flat / shove any turn.

If he's a competent player he should also be balancing these shove plays with draws in addition to strong hands, meaning you may be able to call. But he doesn't sound too great, especially defending his BB with fairly poor hands like some of those which beat TPTK by the turn. I'm probably folding.

Villain could possibly ship it here but with nothing less than a combo draw or a made hand on the turn
