Hey everybody I'm new to this forum, thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully give me some advice. I've only recently decided to player poker professionally and grind my way to a steady bankroll. I usually buy in for min (25 BB) due to a small bankroll and only play live cash games which at my casino are 1/2 and up. I was 3 hours into a VERY loose table. I had 3 calling machines and a donk who went all in (200+) with connectors more then once preflop. I usually never play AJ but because of my position and stack I thought I'd change things up. Preflop action- the donk to my right hand side raises to 9, 2 folds and the action was on me with another person to my left (calling machine) and the donk. I had AJ and I knew the man to the left would call me with a Q8 Suited. I thought about raising but knew that the donk would call anything as long as he had some money in the pot so I went all in with $55, in an effort to not have the calling machine limp in. The man on my left goes all in and the donk calls. The flop comes 3s6s7s then 8, 9. The man on my left had AK unsuited and the donk played 89 off suited. I haven't been able to sleep because I don't know if I let his Loose aggressive play affect my decision making skills or I was adapting to the situation to get the most equity out of my hand and position ( Late position) What could I learn from this hand?

Should have disconnected AJ, If the other person paid, certainly she had something good and as you know that one of the players is a donk, avoid playing hand in hand with him, unfortunately has times, like this, that the game for him.

I think all you have to do is be patient if you loose your mind averithing can go wrong and you start making bad decisions.

Right, well you are nit right? =) Both (shove and call) plays are right imo. Now given you have some fold equity I think shoving is better play, in best scenario you get one caller but that does not really matter what happens because you get the money in good against their ranges. Honestly if you prefer calling over shoving deeper stack might be better choice.

Buddy you need to have your short stack strategy nailed down if you are intending to do this for a living....
In this hand if you hadn't run into AK behind you, you'd have been a 65% fav versus the 89os so in effect there was nothing wrong with the shove, you just got unlucky running into a dominating hand.
On a table like this I think the shove is fine, if he makes it 4.5bb to go you can just about call. You'd be in position against the blinds if they came along and have all the information available to you on the flop as to how to proceed. But OOP its a shove for me and also a shove if there is a squeezer behind you in the blinds.

With 25bb I'd stick to AA KK QQ AKs AQs JJ AK AQ AJs and if there are very loose guys at the table and I was closing the action or just one or two behind me i'd add in AJ TT ATs KQs as shoving hands. There is plenty of info on the web about how to play a short stack....
If you are getting called by several when you are shoving 25bb preflop then I'd tighten up to JJ QQ KK AA AK depending on how many players are still to act.

Thank you so much guys. I do have the short stack strategy nailed down but due to the table being as loose as it was I knew that if I didn't adapt that I'd be minimizing my profits. Usually I only play AJ, AT, KQ in late position with a raise if I get any limpers but this was one of those situations that I had to change it up.

You most definitely need to tighten things up when operating with a short stack. You played well.
