In this hand, villain is someone who I have played with many times. His stack is roughly $450, mine is about $600. He likes to play back at me and plays his draws very aggressively. I have had his number lately and I think he just wants to take me down in the worse way. I would put him in the LAG category. Once he commits to a hand, he generally is willing to get it in.

I am in the BB, villain is CO. 2 limpers to CO who raises to $15. Folds to me with AcAs. I 3-bet to $40, CO calls.

Pot $80 Flop Kc 7d 2d

I bet $45
Villain raises to $125

I think villain is likely on Kxd, or maybe AdKx. I know if I call, he will shove the turn on almost any card. Since I am first to act on the turn, I elected to call his raise, with plans to lead on the turn.

pot $330 turn Kc 7d 2d 8s

Villain is already reaching for his chips. I jam for $280 more.

What are your thoughts on my line here? Should I be waiting for the turn to get it in? If a diamond hits the turn, is this a spot to get away from aces?

If you were already planning to get it in, and he plays his draws aggressively, you should push it in on the flop, don't give him the "free" card if you think he could be on a draw

IMO this is completely fine. I really like the thought you have put in the hand. You realized what villain's range could be, and what would be your most profitable play. As far as shoving on the flop goes, it is really hard to get payed, even if the villain is very aggressive with his draws.

In case diamond did hit the turn, well, very tough spot, I would probably check and see what happens from there, whether opponent jams or not, and I would be inclined to call his shove rather then calling his smaller bet...

I knew with 95% certainty that villain wanted to get it in when he raised the flop. If I shove here, he was calling with 2 cards to come. I elected to call his raise, thinking I could get away if a diamond or King hit the turn.

I guess my question is, am I playing scared or smart? As I think of it, with one card to come, villain might find a fold to a shove on the turn with weaker Kxd hands, where he would call a flop shove. In this hand, he called my turn shove.

i like getting in early on this one too. you've got the vast majority of his range beat and he's already pot committed so why not roll with it?

Your logic on the flop makes no sense. Just cram it in.

You are AHEAD on the flop as long as he doesn't have two pair, Kxdd is BEHIND your AA, get it in now if you "know" they are going to call, you are ahead right now, don't let them scare you off.

As others are saying if you know (and have seen) villain play his draws aggressively, then def shove his flop raise. I'm guessing he has AdKd although I wonder if he would have went over the top pre flop with that and he didn't which makes you wonder if he has a set here. Either way, I think others are right, a shove over his flop raise is fine if you are confident in your read.

I made the mistake a few months ago in a live 1/2 game of getting AA, raising pre, getting called by a LAG...board is low but draw heavy, I bet and LAG 3x's me....I should have shoved but I folded. Seeing you post a similar hand against a similar villain...I know my fold was incorrect just like we know your call on the flop should have been a shove.
