You could have, but what is your plan on river if he called turn.

But seriously, trying to steal his blind is fine, but when he 3 bets, let it go. You're OOP with a hand that really doesnt play good without the betting lead. Sometimes you flop a pair, and you still won't know if it's good. Wait for a better spot.
