No, you have a good point Jim. Against a good (and aggressive) player I might bet this more with just that thinking: if I was 4bet bluffing
, I'd bluff this flop often, and I can expect him to float or jam with a decent range. Against this guy though, he doesn't think on that level and may just be scared off with 77 or whatever. It's pretty hard for someone to muster up the balls to bluff raise over my cbet here.
Checking doesn't always signify a strong hand looking for a ch-r though. Against the right opponents I'll check kings, Qx, weaker aces, JJ and worse sometimes etc for 'pot control' (not a real thing in a 4bet pot lol).
If checking is correct here though, it's because he's going to bet his worse hands more often after my check than he would jam over my cbet.
