You could've folded pre if you really wanted to avoid it...

Why not bet the turn? He was going to call and hit his straight anyway but like bgomez said the only way you can avoid getting drawn out on is fold pre. Checking flop because of WA/WB is fine but I think you can get value from draws and lower pairs on the turn while not giving a free card away.

C-bet the flop. You can probably fold to his min-raise on the river too, that's almost always for value. But you've played it so weakly that you've almost induced a bluff....

I think that you should had done a C-bet on the flop to see where you were against your opponent. If he just called, you should had done another bet on the turn. If he called again, I would not bet on the river.

I dont mind the check on the flop but bet the turn man, alot of worse cards are goign to call you ie shitty pairs,....draws,

Bet river and if you get re raised, I fold i meen i know it seems week to fold to min raises but, i've paid the price to many times to know that a min raise on the river meens 90% ur screwed lol. If you apply that to your game, your banking alot of cash.

As played, calling the river raise is usually a bad play. You should've never seen his cards, and then you wouldn't be worrying about how to avoid it.

Usually you should just bet the flop and be done with it to any further resistance.

How is this not WA/WB?

You could have avoided it by betting either the Flop and the Turn.

I am ok checking the flop but you should really bet the turn if no action on the flop. Check flop mostly to controll pot size. Yes he could be slow playing an A but you need to get paid for draws, smaller pairs, and when he hits his K or 2 pair

We were outdrawn here, happens all the time.

We are OOP, the opener and with a flop that hits our range. I think c-bet is almost mandatory here and since the second 5 doesn't change much bet the turn and check/fold the river would be the best options. Maybe betting two streets is over representing our hand but not betting the turn is like saying "I bluffed the flop" if we c-bet there.

I think that you should had done a C-bet on the flop to see where you were against your opponent. If he just called, you should had done another bet on the turn. If he called again, I would not bet on the river.

Knowing where we are is a product of the villain reactions to our bet, not a reason itself.

This is why I say check the flop. It keeps pot smaller and allows us to bet turn and river if we want.

Also if in this situation and I do have the A with a strong kicker I sometimes (30%ish) check the flop as long as the rest of the board is blank. It adds a little deception in the hand and helps in hands like these but opens you up to be turned and rivered by drawing hands.

I also like betting the flop but only if you bet the turn no matter what comes out.
