$200 NL HE 6-max: AJ call down in 3bet pot

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 24/21/3

Villain is a lagtag with very a aggressive 3bet/4bet game and we've got history. I 5bet shoved 88 over his 4bet and he folded really early in the session. He also doesn't like to fold in 3bet pots (but will prob fold 78 to a double barrel obviously) and likes to bluff. Not sure how many hands and what info he's got on me but I should be perceived as a similar player.

I go ahead and 3bet with the intention of shoving over a 4bet (he 4bets like %3+). Guess there's an argument for flatting here.

So, the turn decision. I decided to basically check-call down for stacks on most rivers, thoughts?

I like check calling a lot. Unless you have a psychic read that he has a T in his hand, and then I like check-raising better. :D

He's not calling that flop with a K in his hand. I'm betting the pot with AJ there and hopping he has those diamonds and bricks out.

wat? why?

You don't really need to bet the turn to get money from two diamonds. I very much expect a 24/21/3 at 200nl will bet his draws on turn. If your idea is to extract maximum value from his draws, i much prefer a CRAI.

I'd also expect this guy to be raising the flop with most diamond draws here, imo.

And as you already said, check-calling is fine, though CRAI is great if he stacks his draws here.

A grain of salt for my limited experience with 6 max, and many grains for my nil experience at 200NL, but I like check/calling too. We've picked up decent showdown value.
