I'm playing from the small blind at a 4 handed £1/2 live game in Reading, cutoff and button limp, I complete with A3, big blind checks. Flop comes down 245 giving me a straight and putting a flush draw on the board. I bet £4, BB raises to £15, cutoff calls, button makes a £70 overbet into a £42 pot. The table just opened and I've only played probably 5-7 hands with these people, but so far the BB seems like a competent player, cutoff a bit weak passive, button has been raising every other hand and monkeying a bit postflop, seems like he's here to gamble and show off.

I have £135 left behind when the action comes back to me and everyone has me covered, what's my play?

Shove for sure. Tons of hands that you have crushed, plus flush draws will probably get their money in. With the 70 reraise, esp from the monkey, the pot is good enough to take down right there. 36 is too small a part of the range we could be against to worry about

How many of those hands that I have crushed is he actually likely to have here though? I think he would have raised preflop with any pocket pair and maybe with A5 as well, so he's not likely to have a set or overpair. His range is looking pretty much strong draw/ two pair/straight with probably some possibility of a pure bluff, but not much bearing in mind how much action there had already been on the flop

Live players will happily stack overpairs here tons of the time. Range it at pairs+flush draws, sets, overpairs and the odd random bluff. You might get 67s in there at the worst case. But baically when you flop the second nuts you dont want to be looking for reasons to fold, you want to be looking for reasons to get you chips in.

One hand beats you. Obviously get it all in.

But next time fold pre.

And you crush that range,

Not many competent players are going to be overlimping 63 OTB + we have a blocker, so we have the effective nuts. ship it in.

Seems a pretty clear consensus. I shoved, he had the 36x, I lost a huge pot that I'd been relatively uncommitted to and I've been second guessing myself the rest of the night. I thought it was a straightforward play at the time but wondered if there might have been something I missed. Thanks for the analysis and for putting my mind to rest.

Aldito- my A3 was suited, though I left that out of the hand description since none of my suit came on the flop. £1 into an £8 pot with some weak/loose players who are likely to pay me off seems pretty automatic

Not many competant players, but its pretty common in a live game for players to limp atc OTB because all they know about poker is to play the button.

Sucks to get beat there, but 100% the right move and one that would pay off most of the time. You have no read to pinpoint him on the nuts so unless you had a reeaally strong gut feeling..2nd nuts has to ship it. Like everyone said above, villiain could have a ton of hands here.
