Hello all!
I am going to try to post one hand that I played, not sure how to post properly but going to try to give as much info as I can.
It was a cash game with chips that don't translate exactly into money. $20 - roughly 1000 chips. I will use chips to indicate bet amounts.

The villain is a player who I've played with for the first time, my sense of him is that he is not really a bluffer type, more selective with the hands he gets involved with than some other people.

I had about 1300
the villain (BB) had more, about 2000
blinds 10/20

I am UTG with AA - Raise to 100
everyone folds, except the BB who calls
the flop is 9с 7s 4c (I have no clubs) (pot is 210)
the villain bets 100
I raise to 250
he raises to 500
I call additional 250 (pot is 1210)
Turn: Kd
he bets 150

What should I do??

Just ship it on the flop. Or at least raise bigger. You had 65 BBs.

The way you played the flop, you can just call it down if you think he had a set on the flop.

Either he is on a draw, or he has a pocket pair, or he really has a set and is truly to "squeeze" more coins out of you with those sissy tiny bets and raises. And of course, I wouldn't put it pass him to be a total moron who's "bluffing" with anything. (I've seen some speechlessly stupid "bluffing" at 4NL)

I think the first two scenarios are more likely.

If he really has a set, he's likely a big loser at holdem the way he's betting...

Once we call his raise OTF we are not folding ever.

OTF you have to make your decision. You are all in or out.

Like BS (lol, sorry for that abbreviation) said, he has enough hands in his range that you are ahead here, and his bet sizing is ultra weird. OTF I would have to consider what his min-re-raise means. If he is on a draw or has a set, he kinda has to ship it over your raise, so I am probably shipping over OTF.

Yeah, I played it badly. I should've made my decision on the flop. Felt confident about my aces when I raised OTF but when he reraised started to doubt if aces are the best hand. His reraise should've given me all the info I need. Against this opponent I shouldn't have played this way.
I did go all in on the turn, and he had 444.
If I went all in on the flop wouldn't have made much difference here. But maybe , just maybe there was a way out. All in all, I wasn't good enough to fold aces in that situation.

It's not about saving money on this one hand. It's about how to play in situations like this. If you feel you could be behind, then just call him down. Like I mentioned before. With just 65 bbs overall, either I come over the top and shove it all in on the flop, or if I decided to just call on the flop, then call him down.
