iPoker - €0.20 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: 100.5 BB (VPIP: 27.71, PFR: 20.55, 3Bet Preflop: 7.92, hands: 1,774)
BB: 525.55 BB (VPIP: 62.80, PFR: 23.78, 3Bet Preflop: 16.42, Hands: 165)
CO: 110.3 BB (VPIP: 25.02, PFR: 17.26, 3Bet Preflop: 7.06, Hands: 1,261)
Hero (BTN): 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has A:diamond: J:diamond:

CO raises to 4 BB, Hero calls 4 BB, fold, fold

Flop: (9.5 BB, 2 players) 8:diamond: J:heart: J:club:
CO checks, Hero bets 5.7 BB, CO calls 5.7 BB

Turn: (20.9 BB, 2 players) 4:diamond:
CO checks, Hero bets 12.5 BB, CO calls 12.5 BB

River: (45.9 BB, 2 players) K:club:
CO checks, Hero bets 27.5 BB, CO raises to 88.1 BB, Hero ?

I have never folded trips with top kicker on a board with no straight or flush. But could this be it? Feels like 88 or KJ. This is way too strong for QJ but could possibly be AJ so worst we are looking at is split.

I can't fold here because I think he bets KJ/88 on the river for fear that you'll check back and showdown most of your holdings. I call.

Villain's value range that beats you could include:
J8, KJ, 88, 44, KK. All those are possible although 44 unlikely to get to the turn and KK unlikely to check flop.

What value hands could he be shoving that you beat?
QJ, JT, J9
As you said maybe he would not shove those hands but I have seen people shove with less. So let's say they are possible holdings.

Could he shove as a bluff? Yes - perhaps he has a flush or straight draw that missed. 98 or AQd could shove here trying to rep J8, KJ or 88. Possible, but how likely depends on your specific reads on him plus your current table image.

Call or fold? I think he was most likely slow playing a monster so I think I would make a fold here. But I know that I personally am variance adverse. I might even check the river in this spot. Maybe that is too passive though.

To be honest, I never find a fold here.
GL Hero.

Kind of agree with above, this seems like a 4 bet hand.

His stats don't suggest he was calling down to bluff the river (esp when you've shoved strength the whole hand). Therefore, he must have something like 88, KK, or mayyybe KJ. It's a gross fold, but it's so hard to see how he would raise u here without believing u would call (and thus have a better hand).
