I only had 5 hands on the villain and he had raised them all pre-flop so I suspected I was facing a maniac but either way I was obviously going to see that flop.

I usually 3-bet 4x the original raise but felt it wasn't necessary in this particular situation.
So what do you guys think about this? :thrasher:

You're right, its not necessary to 3-bet that small. 6x is probably better against a maniac.

Why don't you think it's necessary? he's gonna call your min 3 bet as often as he is your 3x 4x etc so start building a pot...

I realize that my small 3-bet makes no sense but I'm on a very tight BR that has made me very nitty with 3-bets and such. In the moment I sort of thought he was just attempting to steal and that any raise would make him fold and, that's sort of how I justified it, I see alot of that with maniacs.
I ended up loosing the hand to 3 of a kind 5's but if I had raised him way bigger he probably would have folded and I'd have saved all that money.

You can't let your BR affect the way you play - try and only play if you're properly rolled.
