2nd hand for today.

I don't have any stats on the opponent. The only fact I have is that he sits on the table without being full-stacked, but with only 7 hands I can't extract a reliable conclusion.

BTN: 157 BB
Hero (SB): 100 BB
BB (BB): 89 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 7)
UTG: 112 BB
UTG+1: 65.5 BB

MP: 139.5 BB
MP+1: 55.5 BB
MP+2: 89.5 BB
CO: 103 BB

Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

-Preflop: Dealt to Hero:AhKc

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to 2.5 BB, Hero raises to 8.5 BB, BB calls 7.5 BB, fold

-Flop (19.5 BB):2h8c4s

Hero bets 14.5 BB, BB calls 14.5 BB

-Turn (48.5 BB):Kd

Hero bets 77 BB and is all-in
…..

First of all I would like to know in my c-bet on this kind of dry flop with just two overcards in correct. On the turn I'm with TPTK and 77 big blinds and given his call on the flop I put him on A8s top pair or a jj-99 midpair. What do you think?

I think the way you play your hand is flawed because you seem to be trying to bet him off his hand instead of get called. You WANT him to continue with his middle pairs and his A8 ect. You want him to call you down with a 2nd best hand. When you go crazy like this, you are only going to get called by hands that have you dominated and never profit from weaker ones.

To be honest I might just check the turn and value bet the river 1/2 pot or so.

What hand are you hoping to get called by that you beat, that is going to stack off on this board?

You can pretty safely assume your opponent isn’t loose pre, after he goes 0/7.

Generally you want to slowly commit your opponent in situations like this where the board won’t change (no real draws or additional scare cards can hit on the river), rather than face him with a committing bet all at once. Massage the $ in, and bet half pot on the turn.

I would say it's correct especially against tight player who folds a lot, and loose preflop player who calls 3bet too easy and has to fold a lot to CB. Against all others it's grey area. I have seen some good players to decide if they CB here if they have ANY other equity, like runner runner for nut flush. But the sizing could be smaller here, imo, 12.5bb?, if he folds he folds.

Hello, so firstly i think you are ignoring the fact that yes you have just 7 hand on him which is 1 round of the table so he is definetly not a massive donk/fish or how you want to call him unless he somehow timed out in all hands before and it auto-foled.. i consider 7-20 hands on a player enough to see if i want to play a big pot early vs him or not.
Also another important factor is that button raised, you 3bet and the bb just cold called your 3bet with the button still left to act behind which is pretty important. I think your 75% bet on the flop is bad.. i cant think of any hand that would fold on that flop as played. That K on turn is also not so great cause now you cant really get called with your shove with anything worse.. unless he cold call KQ pre which would be so bad for him. So in your situation i would play preflop the same with the intention of taking it down there, i would cbet vs the button and just check vs bb, i would check the turn again vs any of them and bet river if they check back the turn.

Like your points guys.

Well, actually I was thinking I could take a call with a mid pair here.

Excluding the monsters AA-QQ, blocking AK, AQ, AJ, etc and given the call pre and on the flop (a 75% cbet about) I put him on a mid pair like JJ, 10-10, something like that. So with 77bb remaining stack, I was thinking why a half-pot bet on the turn+a half-pot bet on the river instead of putting all the money in the middle on the turn?

For the cbet on the flop my thought is that with a decent bet I would take the pot down having him fold any Ax, KQ, KJs hand if my blockers didn't work this time. Yes, the size of the bet maybe isn't the best to be honest. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.....

Gohaku why check the turn vs any of them instead of betting?

The fact that I have only 7 hands on villain is huge problem.
