I did call him preflop instead of 3betting cos I didn't wanted to waste 18c folding when he would possibly 4bet me. Would you 3bet with AQs?

I'm also thinking I should have probably bet turn once he showed weakness and checked. What do you think?

Sorry but this is terrible logic. You definitely should have 3bet preflop with AQs.

If he does 4bet you, especially at these stakes where no-one 4bets light, that means he almost definitely has a better hand than you and you don't want to play against him. If you call him, how do you know he doesn't have AA or KK? You're gaining far less information by calling him. When you re-raise someone, you put them in a position where you're able to get a lot more information from them about the strength of their hand, which makes your future decisions a lot easier.

You played this hand far too passively. You should have 3bet preflop, you should DEFINITELY have made a bet on the turn (to take him off any drawing hands like a flush draw or a straight draw, or in this case, a set draw) and you should've bet the river for value. I'm not saying that check-raises don't happen at these stakes, but they're far less common than check-calls, so it's definitely profitable to bet the river, even just a small amount like 15c which he'd probably call with a hand like AJ or TT.

Surely, should have bet on turn.

Or at most, should have bet on river.

Flatting pre is fine, checking turn is fine since a bet only folds out worse hands(He would more than likely continue betting turn with all draws, AA, KK and any 2 pair or better hands) This way you can get value from worse hands when river bricks and you may be stealing. Idk why you don't value bet the river but it is a pretty major mistake.
