I know that this hand is simple, simple, simple, but still. I played it wrong right? Cause Villain would never call me on the turn with a worse hand. Should I have check-raised the flop? And yes, it was supposed to be a fold preflop, not a limp :)

apart from limping pre in mid position with a weak hand, this seems fine to me. i definitely dont like checkraising the flop, and i think donking the turn > check call or check raise

check call the turn with the plan of check calling the river, unless the river is a 9 then you can think about leading out OTR. Apart from that, if you are playing this hand, isolate the limper pre imo

This is a raise preflop. Then the whole hand plays differently.

According to your book, it's a fold, Mr. BlackRain79, the master of microstakes, my current idol :)

ye wtf lol. a very obviously beginning player should NEVER be opening suited connectors @ 2NL from MP, esp when raising limpers imo :\

also, if hes your idol, and you know what his book is telling you to do wtf are you doing limping and not folding? lol. im not sure of blackrains stance on limping small pairs, personally i hope he thinks its < opening them. but i can 100% guarantee he hates limping

Just a joke  and don't worry jchoop, youre not left behind. Jchoop's 'grind to victory' cash thread is right after "Crushing the Microstakes" in my list.

Smaller OTT, like $0.16, or just check. Our draw is good, so letting villain draw is to our advantage.

And we should probably do something different preflop. Limp/folding? Isolate the limper? Just fold pre? Play 6-max so you don't have to worry about iso'ing limpers with 5 players left to act?

Yeah I know, the cursor just slipped.
But seriously thanks for the analysis, I shall not open suited connectors from MP no more and good luck with the Super Nova.

Haha, I guess I did say that didn't I? Busted! In the book (which has a lot of beginners reading it) I tried to keep things as simple as possible so I recommended just folding in spots like this. That said, as you get more experience in the game and feel more comfortable I think you should feel free to open up a bit more if you want. I would pretty much always play this hand in this spot because I am confident that I could turn it into a winner at these stakes.

I think you bet too much on the turn. He would've likely folded a 20 cent bet if he was going to fold the 32 cent one. And by betting the turn, would you have called an all-in from him on some river draws? I think checking would've been a better option on the turn, even though this gives him a chance to spike an overcard. But if it is a club, you win a big pot.
