should have maybe checked after the river, but i thought if i went all in he would think i was trying to steal the pot away from him with a bluff....

Problem with this is even if he thinks you're bluffing he cant really call with anything other than a full house or a pocket pair of 9s or better. I think if you check he's prob gonna check behind so best to put out a small value bet that could be called by Ax type hands imo!

yeah absolutely, i agree with what you say,...how much of a value bet would you have done...0.50-0.80c?

fold pre. you shouldnt be calling 3bets with AJs, especially when youre out of position

dont bother trying to trap, youre better off here donkbetting 3 streets and looking to get it in if he raises you

Yeah he could have had aces and had me crushed....i need to cut curiousity out of my game, although the aj being suited had something to do with me calling the 3bet but i should have folded.............if i donk betted he would have put me on jacks though most prob....

It's 2nl. Quit trying to outplay people, at least until you have a firm enough grasp of straightforward ABC poker to achieve a solid win rate over a decent sample size.

Playing straightforward poker, AJs is an easy enough fold pre- against a bet and 3bet, especially OOP. Since you didn't, think more about what hands you can extract value from and how best to do so once you flop trips and then turn top boat. For instance, what basis did you have to think he'd believe you'd make a pot-sized bluff shove on the river after your previous actions? Since it is 2nl, there's some chance he'll make a hero call, but assuming he will isn't the same thing.

Agreed.

As played, I would definitely lead the flop.

@arjonius absolutely, i was getting ideas above my station, i should stick to abc, correct decison poker....i made the pot sized bet on the river, because i was shortstacked anyway and i tried to make it look like i had nothing and was therfore on the steal.....i was hoping he had queens or another top pair.....i wont be trapping again.....if i have what i believe to be a winning hand i will bet...if not i will fold...
